Darmstadt, Letzebuerger Journal:
“Imposing stage design [...] The musical takes place in an imposing stage set by Christoph Weyers (“Tell”, “Die Päpstin”), which seems to be screwed together from huge metal components – a real tour de force! In the first act, an oversized roulette wheel dominates the background. Television screens hang on the sides, on which horse races are broadcast, among other things. In the second act, a gigantic metal construction emerges from the back of the stage, with, on one side, the entrance to the hotel “Mesopotamia”, which belongs to the Baron, and on the other, a photo studio, an office space as well as a room.”
Darmstädter Echo Online:
“... the lavish set by Christoph Weyers is on the one hand an invitation to the spectator, but on the other hand also a miracle of skilful transformation. Weyers cleverly builds the spaces from oversized pieces of a Märklin construction kit, which is not a bad look for this musical assembled from the set pieces of the genre. The fight against evil is just a big game. But one that can be fun.”
Frankfurter Neue Presse:
“Christoph Weyers’ stage design is very convincing. In the manner of a child’s construction kit, he has provided mobile steel beams with holes and screws so that they can show the different play locations in a tableau-like way.”
